Always liking a challenge, Jo will try her hand at anything be it work or recreational. From Secretary to Singer to Art Tutor or trying to get fit with Judo, Gymnastics and Tae Kwon Do (Achieving World Champion Status in Power Hand at the Arena in Birmingham 2018 and has held various titles; British, English and Welsh Champion in both TKD and Judo) she will use all her energy to strive for perfection and so takes great pride in anything she does. Her most recent achievement and claim to fame is that she is soon to appear on the brand new tv show 'Home is Where the Art Is' 10th April on BBC One where Nick Knowles is the presenter.

Jo Allsopp was born in Chirk, North Wales and is mainly self-taught as an artist however, she did train as an adult tutor which led her to teach at many Colleges for Leicestershire County Council. As a mature student, she also decided to complete a course with London Art College?- illustrating children's books where her tutor was Jan Nesbitt a popular children's book illustrator. Jan gave lots of helpful critique to enable Jo to take her illustrations to the next level. Success came when Jo was asked to illustrate the book my 'Nana is an Alien' by the Author Diane Whitley. All of the proceeds from this book are donated to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association and it is available to buy here, on Amazon and through the PHA UK website. Whilst teaching painting and drawing classes for local Colleges and trying to juggle Sable Studio Gallery with family life, Jo decided that her purpose built home studio was just no longer big enough to accommodate her growing business. It was then decided that larger premises were required and so came the move to bigger premises within the grounds of Moira Furnace Museum located by the canal. With this move, all of her classes had to then be run privately as there was no time to travel from different venues plus open the Gallery on a daily basis. Moving into new premises in a recession was a risk but fortunately, due to many loyal students who followed, plus a lot of hard work, determination and enthusiasm, things have progressed from there. Sable Studio Gallery has grown and it is with this success and the help of fellow artist and potter Louise Roe, that Sliksilver was born! This is a business that is going from strength to strength where a range of beautiful hand made silver jewellery is made (which includes keepsake fingerprint jewellery).
